The ESPY awards recognize true sports performances, either by a team or an individual.

As you know, MLB is full or worthy athletes who may very well deserve an ESPY for their achievements and contributions to the sports world.

The 2022 edition of the awards will be on July 20.

MLB will be well-represented, with the following nominees:

St. Louis Cardinals great Albert Pujols makes an appearance among nominees thanks to his incredible charitable contributions.

He will be in play for the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award.

The Atlanta Braves will be in the running for Best Team, having won the 2021 World Series and currently competing for a playoffs spot with the New York Mets and other National League squads.

Which MLB Stars Will Be Recognized With An ESPY?

Trey Mancini beat stage 3 colon cancer in 2020, and returned with a bang in 2021 with some incredible numbers for a person who had to endure so much.

For that, he is competing for the Best Comeback Athlete award.

Last, but not least, Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani is one of the nominees for the Best Male Athlete award, and should have a great chance of winning if common sense prevails.

Last year, he slashed .257/.372/.592 with 46 home runs and 26 steals as a hitter.

The special part is that he was also an ace from the mound, posting a strong 3.18 ERA in 130.1 innings, striking out 156 hitters.

It would be great for the health of the game if some of the nominees won: all candidates are certainly deserving, especially Mancini and Ohtani.

We will know the winners on July 20: in the meantime, MLB fans can still enjoy all nominees in the 2022 season, as they are all playing.
