MLB players are under no obligation to be involved with the community and local projects that can help others, but it’s always nice when they voluntarily offer their time and money to these initiatives.
Helping others should be something that comes from the heart, and the league has an award to recognize those players who are pioneers and leaders in contributing to the community, the environment, minorities, and other things or people in need of a helping hand.
The Roberto Clemente Award is given ever year to one MLB player who “best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual’s contribution to his team”.
Each teams has a representative, a nominee; and fans and media members will have the opportunity to vote for the winner.
The Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to a player who demonstrates the values Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente displayed in his commitment to community and understanding the value of helping others.

The nominees are ready, and they include some high-profile names.

New York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino has been a star both on and off the field and is proudly representing the Bombers in the voting.
Respected veterans like Joey Votto, Brandon Crawford, Jose Altuve, and Paul Goldschmidt are also in contention to win the prestigious award, which is more than just another accolade for some players.
