The talks that MLB and the Players Association have this week are of utmost importance for all parties involved.
The league notified the MLBPA that they had until February 28, which is one week from now, to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), or the season couldn’t start on time.
As of right now, the 2022 regular season is still on schedule to begin on March 31.
Much of it, however, will depend on how much progress the sides are able to make in the upcoming days.
Fans are, obviously, in wait-and-see mode before putting what is left of their hopes in this week’s negotiations.
Reporters are the ones helping the world get the exact details of the talks in real time.
Media Is All Over The Meetings
The media covering MLB is resorting to live tweeting the meetings in Jupiter, FL.
ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, for example, said that the two parts appeared to take a break: “MLB contingent just went to another part of the stadium so looks like a break. No one is leaving in their cars or anything. They talked for about 1:10.”

One hour and ten minutes is actually progress considering that, last week, in their most recent meeting they only talked for 15 minutes.
Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reported something similar: “Dan Halem, Dick Monfort and other members of the MLB contingent just walked out of the area of Roger Dean where they had been for talks. Hour and fifteen minutes of talks, it seems, for those who care. Unclear if they’re done for the day or just breaking out to chat separately.”

Of course, there will always be room for some humor:

We were used to getting updates from the media after the meetings were done, but this week is crucial, so everybody is ramping up their efforts.
