New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge will be a free agent after the season.
The Yanks tried to extend him and even offered $213.5 million over seven years (a solid proposal at the time), but the All-Star decided to bet on himself and secure a bigger bag.
Boy, did he do it: with a .311 batting average and 62 home runs, it’s safe to say he will be a very rich man come free agency.
If the Yankees don’t want to break the bank for him, other teams are willing to do so.
The San Francisco Giants have money and can lure him since he grew up in California.
There is another team with boatloads of cash to offer Judge, and he wouldn’t even need to move from the city he currently lives in: the New York Mets.
Can The Mets Pursue Judge?
That’s right: former MLB legend David Ortiz, who was recently elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, said Judge would make sense in Queens.
“Aaron Judge would be perfect for the Mets. I would give him $50 million for the next 5-6 years.” David Ortiz believes the Mets should approach Aaron Judge in free agency,” SNY tweeted.

In reality, any lineup could use Judge, who can be elite in right field and also play a passable center field for at least a couple of years.
The Mets will lose several players via free agency, including center fielder Brandon Nimmo.
Will they be willing to offer what it takes to make Judge forget about the Yankees?
That number could get close to $350 million, but if anyone has that kind of cash, it’s Mets owner Steve Cohen.
It should be a fun offseason.
