Dawson recalled when MLB first reached out to him about this tournament and how honored he was that they chose to reach out to him for an event such as this.
He stressed the importance of instilling confidence in these student-athletes.
Dawson says he wants to make sure these athletes have the power to not let people choose their paths and tell them that something cannot be done.
He also talked about the importance of resilience and how he learned not to give up during his time in college, which ultimately shaped him on his way to becoming a Major League star.
The Hall-of-Famer played at Florida A&M during his college days.
He played 21 seasons in professional baseball with the Cubs, Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, and Florida Marlins.
This tournament represents a great opportunity for the game to grow and reach people in all walks of life.
