Yordan Alvarez has been one of the game’s best hitters ever since his arrival to the big leagues.
The Houston Astros star came through multiple times in the ALDS against the Seattle Mariners, delivering clutch home runs in Games 1 and 2.
Since his debut, he has amazed his teammates in Houston.
Astros veteran Michael Brantley can certainly attest to that.
Brantley first joined the Astros prior to the 2019 season via free agency, and on his first day of spring training with his new club, he got a chance to witness Alvarez taking batting practice.
Jeff Passan of ESPN shared Brantley’s story about his teammate.
“This guy, he’s different.”
On Yordan Álvarez, one of the best hitters in the world, and his many feats — of Festivus-quality strength, of elite bat control and of stepping up in the postseason for the Houston Astros.

Brantley Shares Story On Alvarez
This is an interesting story.
Obviously, Alvarez did not make his MLB debut until 2019, but this was the first that Brantley had ever seen of him.
Brantley was instantly impressed and wanted to get to know him.
Now, the two have been teammates for four years and have reached the World Series twice together, with another trip potentially coming this year.
As Passan notes in the story, Brantley has been one of the most consistent and professional hitters in all of baseball for several years and certainly has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to hitting.
But getting the chance to share that with Alvarez had to have been a great moment for him.
Alvarez certainly has benefitted from having a veteran like Brantley around as he blossoms into an MVP candidate.
There certainly is a lot to learn from a guy like him.
But like everybody else throughout the league, Brantley was duly impressed with the way Alvarez can swing a bat and how good he can truly be.
