The Miami Marlins have been one of baseball’s biggest surprises this season.
The team wasn’t expected to have much success entering the 2023 season.
However, the Marlins have completely flipped the script and now find themselves tied with the San Francisco Giants for the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League.
And for the first time in several years, Miami figures to be a buyer at the trade deadline.
They already picked up David Robertson in a deal with the New York Mets.
However, Jon Heyman notes that there is another veteran pitcher on their radar, that being Detroit Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen.
Heyman reported this news on Twitter.
Marlins have interest in Tigers All-Star Mike Lorenzen. Orioles previously were mentioned as possible landing spot by @jonmorosi Lorenzen, a free agent after the year, surely will be dealt.

Lorenzen has drawn interest from several teams, including the Baltimore Orioles, as was previously reported by Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
The veteran right-hander was the lone Tigers representative at the All-Star Game in Seattle this year.
In 18 starts this year with the Tigers, Lorenzen is 5-7 and owns an ERA of 3.58.
Miami is loaded with young pitchers.
They have Sandy Alcantara, Jesus Luzardo, Braxton Garrett, and Eury Perez.
Veteran Johnny Cueto is also in their rotation.
But adding a piece such as Lorenzen would give them some flexibility with their pitching staff.
The veteran right-hander has been used primarily as a starter over the past two seasons, but is capable of being used as a reliever as well, which would help the Marlins pitching depth.
Lorenzen spent last season with the Los Angeles Angels.
This year, he is one of baseball’s most sought-after pitchers via trade.
