The Oakland Athletics relocation to Las Vegas received, literally, a vote of confidence by MLB owners on Thursday.
They unanimously approved their move to Nevada during the MLB owners meeting.
This doesn’t mean it’s official, but it should be eventually.
A’s owner John Fisher is so desperately eager to leave Oakland that the franchise won’t have a permanent home from 2025 to 2027.
His mind and efforts are entirely dedicated to the Las Vegas move.
In the meantime, Oakland fans are the ones suffering.
MLB insider Bob Nightengale explains the situation via Twitter.
“The A’s are expected to play in a variety of sites after their Oakland Coliseum lease expires after the 2024 season, including at the Giants’ ballpark in San Francisco and Summerlin, Nevada, the A’s Triple-A site,” he tweeted.

What a disaster.
The Oakland Coliseum’s lease expires after 2024, so barring a short-term lease, it won’t be an option to host home games.
The stadium that Fisher and MLB plan to build in the Las Vegas strip won’t be ready before the 2028 season.
So, from 2025 to 2027, the team will improvise their home situation.
The fact that they plan to play some home games in their own Triple-A stadium shouldn’t even be allowed by MLB, but here we are.
Oakland fans have enjoyed the team since 1968.
They won the World Series three straight years, from 1972 to 1974, and then again in 1989.
Those are memories that will forever stick in the minds of those who enjoyed those electrifying moments.
Sadly, it’s all they will be left with after the team is taken away from their hands.
