We are now in the midst of the dog days of August.
The regular season will soon be on its last leg as the postseason approaches.
By now, we know who the true contenders are.
It’s clear that teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets, both of whom were expected to be contenders, have fallen well short of expectations and will not be going to the postseason.
However, there are plenty of teams who are in the mix for a potential World Series title.
On MLB Network, former MLB star Mark DeRosa revealed who his top-5 World Series contenders are as the month of September approaches.

At No. 5 on the list, DeRosa had the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.
DeRosa cited having Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola at the top of the rotation and the re-emergence of stars such as Trea Turner and Bryce Harper as two of the main reasons why he sees the Phillies making a run.
At No. 4, the former MLB star listed the Texas Rangers.
They have busted out of the gates and have assembled a stacked roster.
DeRosa believes once Nathan Eovaldi is healthy, the starting rotation will be truly dangerous considering they acquired Max Scherzer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers came in at No. 3 on the list, while the defending World Series champion Houston Astros were listed at No. 2.
At the top, DeRosa had his former team in the Atlanta Braves.
Their lineup features stars such as Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley.
They also have a solid top-three in their starting rotation that includes Max Fried, Bryce Elder, and Spencer Strider.
