The trade deadline is today.
At 6 p.m. Eastern Time, all teams will have made their final offers and put the finishing touches on their rosters for the remainder of the season.
To the surprise of many, the New York Mets have been a disappointing team.
After winning 101 games and putting together a solid roster over the winter, the team has struggled.
They’ve already traded away Max Scherzer and may ultimately end up dealing Justin Verlander.
The Baltimore Orioles are a team that is in discussions with the Mets about Verlander.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reminded fans of some important information regarding the Verlander situation.
Justin Verlander has a no-trade clause; his willingness to accept a deal to the Orioles is unknown.
Verlander grew up 160 miles from Camden Yards; as a kid, he watched then-Orioles ace Mike Mussina.

The 40-year-old right-hander has a full no-trade clause in his contract, and it is unknown if he will ultimately accept a trade to the Orioles.
However, it is important to note that Verlander grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, which is not too far from Baltimore.
Morosi pointed out that he grew up an Orioles fan and had a chance to watch Hall-of-Famer Mike Mussina, who was the team’s ace at the time.
Verlander also had a no-trade clause back in 2017 when he was still with the Detroit Tigers.
At the last minute, he waived that no-trade clause in order to be traded to the Houston Astros.
So, it is possible that Verlander could waive his no-trade clause to play with a contender for the remainder of the season.
The Orioles are certainly a strong contender, as they own the best record in the American League at 65-41.
