The Shohei Ohtani hype only continues to gain momentum every time he takes the field.
Major League Baseball has never seen a player like Ohtani.
While there have been some players that have tried to be two-way and failed, the only player in the same realm as Ohtani is Babe Ruth.
Some consider Ruth the greatest baseball player of all time due to his two-way ability and his incredible statistics.
Yet, Ohtani is doing things on the baseball field that not even Ruth could achieve.
ESPN baseball insider Jeff Passan made a strong claim about Ohtani’s recent run.
He said, “Babe Ruth never did anything like what Ohtani is doing right now.”

The Angels star is coming off one of the best months of his career and it was truly historic.
He batted .394 in June while hitting 15 home runs, and driving in 29.
Also, his OPS was 1.444 for the month.
On the mound, he pitched to a 2-2 record with an ERA of 3.26 and struck out 37 hitters in 30.1 innings.
Ohtani has established himself as the heavy favorite to win the AL MVP.
It would be his second MVP award in three seasons and he seems to only be getting better.
With Mike Trout now sidelined for 4-8 weeks, the Angels need Ohtani to carry them to the playoffs.
That is a place he has not been in his career and it could be what ultimately drives him out of LA.
What the Angels decide to do at the trade deadline could alter the course of baseball history.
