The Oakland Athletics want to be playing baseball in Las Vegas by 2027.
At least, that’s the intention: ownership wants to walk away from Oakland because they think fans will never go to the stadium the way they want them to go.
However, the plan to move to Las Vegas has hit some major speed bumps in recent days.
The A’s franchise agreed to build a new ballpark on the Las Vegas Strip.
This deal also requested $395 million in public financing.
Nevada lawmakers, however, have not approved or introduced legislation to bring the A’s to Las Vegas because they are only willing to contribute less than $200 million in transferable tax credits to fund the construction of the stadium.
The whole plan is obviously contingent on the construction of the stadium.
Basically, lawmakers are willing to contribute from $150 million to $175 million, and the A’s are seeking $395 million.
And the A’s relocation drama goes on. https://t.co/Hc7Bv8fYOr

Fans, in the meantime, are sort of in limbo.
They don’t know if the team will be playing in Oakland, Las Vegas, or any other city come 2027.
Nobody knows anything until we have more clarity in the Las Vegas funding plan.
All of this happens while the A’s are a true mess on the field.
They are, by far, the worst team in MLB with a 10-39 record.
The closest team is the Kansas City Royals, who have been four games better than the A’s with their 14-35 record.
Oakland can hit a little, but their pitching is abysmal and often looks like a Triple-A unit.
While everybody gets on the same page regarding the future of the franchise, fans are the ones suffering the most.
