By now, most around the sports world are well aware of the recent drama that has taken place within the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Catcher Willson Contreras was pulled out of the starting catcher spot and is now being used exclusively as a designated hitter.
This news was met with criticism from media members all around the baseball world.
It also endeared Contreras to the Cardinals fanbase, as several fans voiced their support for their new catcher.
On Twitter, MLB historian Bill James weighed in on the situation and stated what he believes the Cardinals should do now that the situation has become public.
If I was the Cardinals' front office, I would (1) tell the pitchers that I made a mistake asking for their opinion on this, and (2) tell the pitchers that Contreras is the catcher, and stop blaming him for your failures.

James stated that he believes the Cardinals should ultimately tell their pitchers that it was a mistake to ask for their opinions on Contreras, and reaffirm that the 30-year-old veteran is the catcher of the future for this team.
He also called on the team to stop using the veteran catcher as their scapegoat for the situation.
The situation is now out of control, and while the Cardinals may be turning the corner, having won three straight games, the decision to publicly call out Contreras is a bad look for the organization that for years has prided itself on good communication with their players.
This situation has been anything but that.
Still, the organization won’t be able to escape the constant criticism from fans and media members alike.
Using Contreras as a scapegoat only made things worse.
But the way the veteran catcher has handled the situation has endeared him to the Cardinals fanbase.
