For the past several years, Major League Baseball had been struggling to keep up with other sports such as the NFL, NBA, and NHL.
The MLB lockout, which lasted for 99 days from December of 2021 to March of 2022, certainly didn’t help matters.
However, since the lockout, baseball appears to be gaining some traction again.
Over the weekend, MLB set an impressive attendance record, drawing their highest weekend total of fans at ballparks in April or May since 2017.
MLB ballparks drew a total of over 1.5 million fans.
On Twitter, the account for the MLB podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” revealed this interesting fact and reported on the news that MLB’s attendance is skyrocketing.

Baseball is slowly inching its way back to prominence.
Long considered America’s favorite pastime, baseball had been in decline over the past several years.
However, the game is slowly working its way back.
This past weekend’s attendance numbers are proof enough that the game is finally headed in the right direction.
The new rules may have somewhat of an effect on the higher attendance totals.
The pitch clock has allowed games to be played at a much faster pace.
The elimination of the exaggerated shift also is likely helping, as it allows for more hits and more action on the offensive side of the game.
Bigger bases have allowed for more action on the basepaths, including stolen bases.
And so, with these new changes, baseball is slowly moving forward and inching its way back towards prominence once again.
