The Los Angeles Dodgers took a big hit before even getting out of the first week of spring training.
Ascending shortstop Gavin Lux suffered an ACL tear while running to third base.
Breaking: Gavin Lux is out for the season with a torn right ACL, manager Dave Roberts announced.

This was a freak injury, that puts a damper feel around the best team in baseball last year.
The Dodgers set a franchise record with 111 wins last season, but have already lost a few key players.
Along with Lux being out for the season, pitcher Walker Buehler will miss the entire year.
Also, LA lost key starters Trea Turner, Justin Turner, and Cody Bellinger in free agency.
Not good when you lose Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Bellinger etc etc

Lux is still a young player and many thought this could be his breakout season.
So it hurts to see him miss the year before we even get into real games.

While this is a big blow for the Dodgers, they do have the depth to be able to overcome it.
They added Miguel Rojas from the Marlins earlier in the offseason and he has plenty of experience playing shortstop.
Also, the Dodgers still have super-utility man Chris Taylor who can play all over the field.
Stinks for Lux. Looks like Miguel Rojas will be the shortstop for LA now

It will be interesting to see how the Dodgers respond to such a big loss.
They are still expected to be one of the best teams in baseball and make a run at the World Series.
Look for some of their key veterans to step up in the absence of Lux.
Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Max Muncy will all have to shoulder a bigger load this season.
