As MLB fans patiently await for the start of spring training, the World Baseball Classic, and the regular season, there is an exciting competition starting on Thursday that they will surely find entertaining: the Caribbean Series.
Played every year among the champions of the Venezuelan, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rican, and Mexican leagues – plus some guests – the event started on February 2 and will end with the final match on February 10.
Vaqueros de MonterÃa (Colombia), Agricultores (Las Tunas & Granma – Cuba), WildCats KJ74 (Curaçao), Cañeros de Los Mochis (Mexico), Federales de Chiriquà (Panama), Indios de Mayagüez (Puerto Rico), Tigres del Licey (Dominican Republic) and Leones del Caracas (Venezuela) will be the eight teams vying for the top spot.
The stadiums look amazing in pictures.
“Venezuela is hosting the Caribbean Series this year, and the field belongs in baseball heaven,” Joe Pompliano tweeted.

Despite the country’s low average wage and social and financial issues, the series will be played in a dream location.
Two stadiums will be used: the Estadio Monumental de Caracas Simón BolÃvar, in Caracas, and the Estadio Jorge Luis GarcÃa Carneiro, in La Guaira.
We will see how many hitters manage to send the ball to the water, if anyone.
A complex political and financial crisis has resulted in a lot of problems for Venezuelan people through the years, but the geography of the country does offer the chance for venues like this one.
Games are already underway, and we will know who wins the most prestigious Caribbean tournament within the next few days.
