MLB fans have enjoyed a nice offseason, with several eye-popping deals in free agency and even a few impactful trades sprinkled in there.
Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts, and Carlos Correa all signed for more than $250 million, although the latter deal is paused due to concerns with the physical exam.
Sean Murphy was traded from the Oakland Athletics to the Atlanta Braves, and Bryan Reynolds is expected to be the next big name on the move.
Yet MLB fans probably had the most fun this week, when the league’s official account posted this:
Name a random baseball player.
— MLB (@MLB) January 2, 2023
You probably had no idea of the sheer amount of replies that tweet had.
It’s a fun way for fans to stay engaged and remember good ol’ times and players from the past.
Some replied with current players, but let’s check out some of the responses.
This one probably gets the gold:
Arson Judge.

Poor Arson Judge had a very brief MLB career with the San Francisco Giants!
Even active players joined the challenge.
This tweet was from New York Yankees reliever Wandy Peralta:

Well, we wouldn’t exactly call Anthony Rizzo “random”, but we will allow it.
Some of the replies were very, very funny:

And others made us remember some legendary video-game players:

Since the tweet said “baseball” players and not “MLB”, these ones count!
Kyler Murray

Russell Wilson.

Tom Brady

Other replies were much more conventional, with actual MLB players.
All things considered, it’s safe to say everybody had fun in MLB’s exercise.
The league’s official account should send tweets like that one more often.
