Fans are seeing the Chicago Cubs spending money this offseason to make roster improvements.
These fans are seeing the team signing several big-name players to contracts.
However, they might still see more players coming to Chicago.
Despite the recent signing of Eric Hosmer, the team still has plenty of money.
An MLB columnist has shared why the Cubs have money to burn after signing Hosmer.

Before signing with the Cubs on Wednesday, Hosmer was in the last three years of his contract with the San Diego Padres.
While he was released by the Boston Red Sox, it was the Padres who still owe the first baseman money.
As Bob Nightengale points out, the Padres owe Hosmer $38.3 million.
This allows the Cubs to pick up the first baseman for the league minimum of $720,000.
The Chicago #Cubs will pay just the minimum $720,000 this year to first baseman Eric Hosmer, with the San Diego #Padres still on the hook for the remaining $38.3 million

While signing him has flaws, the price for signing the former four-time Gold Glove winner isn’t one of those flaws.
It’s a steal for the Cubs, especially if he can re-ignite the fire that made him great with the Kansas City Royals.
His time with them was where he performed his best, winning those four Gold Glove titles and one Silver Slugger award.
While his time with the Royals ended in 2017, he might find himself with a renewed passion for baseball in Chicago.
If he does, it makes the Cubs signing of him one of the best this offseason.
However, fans fear they are getting the first baseman who was a defensive disaster in San Diego.
