It certainly has been a harrowing experience this week for everybody throughout the sports world.
It all began during the Monday Night Football showcase between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, when Bills safety Damar Hamlin suddenly collapsed on the field at Paycor Stadium and went into cardiac arrest.
The 24-year-old was subsequently rushed to a local hospital and the game was postponed.
The NFL has since decided to not make up the game.
This morning, NFL analyst Ian Rapoport provided an encouraging update on Hamlin, revealing that not only is he awake, but the breathing tube is out, and he has spoken to his teammates via FaceTime.
MLB insider Bob Nightengale retweeted Rapoport’s message and expressed relief that Hamlin appears to be on the mend.
Beautiful seeing that Damar Hamlin is now able to speak to his Buffalo Bills teammates https://t.co/z1ClrOEQUv

It’s been a crazy week for everybody in the sports world.
Fans, athletes, coaches, and media personnel alike in every major sport have offered their support to Hamlin and his family.
Fortunately, it appears that the Bills safety has taken a step in the right direction.
Regardless of which sport you may follow, it is to be expected that everybody received word of this situation.
This is simply bigger than sports and it affects everybody involved, even outside of the sports world.
But Nightengale here is simply feeling what all of us are feeling right now.
When Hamlin collapsed, many weren’t sure if he was going to survive.
It happened so suddenly and took everybody by surprise.
But the first responders deserve a ton of credit for their tireless efforts to revive Hamlin.
Hopefully, Hamlin continues to improve and will soon be discharged from the hospital.
