The Washington Nationals are not widely considered to be a powerhouse in Major League Baseball.
After all, they own a record of 55-67, which is the fourth-worst mark in the National League.
However, they have played much better baseball in the second half of the 2023 season.
They have won six of their last 10 games.
Their recent success is thanks in large part to their young talent.
Their roster consists of stars such as Lane Thomas, Josiah Gray, CJ Abrams, Jeter Downs, Riley Adams, Keibert Ruiz, and MacKenzie Gore.
Abrams and Gore were picked up from the San Diego Padres in the Juan Soto deal.
On MLB Network, former Nationals third-base coach Bo Porter weighed on the team’s recent success and praised GM Mike Rizzo for his work.
Bo Porter on @MLBNetwork today, talking about the success of the @Nationals' young talent at the @MLB level:
“This is why Mike Rizzo is one of the best executives in all of baseball.”
Washington is 19-13 since the All-Star break, the NL's 3rd best record over that span.

Jon Morosi tweeted what Porter had to say.
Porter praised Rizzo as “one of the best executives in all of baseball.”
Since the All-Star break, Washington owns a record of 19-13.
That’s the third-best mark of any team in the National League in that span.
But much of it has to do with the young stars that Rizzo has been able to acquire, which may give them a chance to bounce back into contention in a few years.
Rizzo got a haul from the Padres for Soto and from the Dodgers for Max Scherzer and Trea Turner.
He also sent an aging Jon Lester to St. Louis to land Thomas.
These deals appear to have the Nationals set up well for the future.
