Darnay Tripp, a sports anchor for NBC San Diego, probably didn’t know what would come after he tweeted a recent Triple-A highlight.
It wasn’t a regular clip, though: it was Fernando Tatis Jr. hitting a home run for the El Paso Chihuahuas, the San Diego Padres‘ Triple-A affiliate.
He is there because he is still suspended until April 20 for violating MLB’s performance-enhancing drugs policy last year.
Tatis took advantage of a poorly-located 93-mph pitch and sent it way, way back into the stands.
Tripp mentioned the pitcher’s name, so he could see his tweet with a quick search.
The name is Kade McClure, who belongs to the San Francisco Giants’ system.
Well, McClure didn’t like it and quoted Tripp’s tweet, but turning on Tatis.
“**cheater hits a homerun on a rehab assignment during a steroid suspension**” he tweeted.
Somebody is not happy with Tatis’ past decisions.

It’s understandable to some extent, but he doesn’t project a positive image if he goes to Twitter and blasts a hitter he gave up a home run to.
He projects the image of someone who isn’t happy about losing, in this case, an at-bat.
Twitter users turned against McClure, who had a 4.97 ERA last year in 87 innings with the Chicago White Sox’s Triple-A affiliate.
This year, he has appeared in two games and covered five innings in relief, giving up four earned runs.
His BB/K ratio is not ideal, at 3/1, although it was 28/96 last season in Triple-A.
He has strikeout ability, but he couldn’t get one past Tatis this time.
