The Miami Dolphins have the NFL’s top offense so far this season, and they have gotten out to a 5-1 record, which is tied for the best record in the NFL.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is now in his fourth pro season, continues to progress and impress, yet some continue to doubt him and accuse him of merely being a “system quarterback.”
But head coach Mike McDaniel fired back at those critics with a fiery defense of his signal-caller, per Pro Football Focus.

Through six games, Tagovailoa leads the league with 1,876 passing yards and a 114.1 passer rating, and he is tied with the Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins for the most touchdown passes with 14.
Thanks to his production, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill has a beastly 814 yards and six touchdowns so far this season, and he could be headed for a very special and even historic season when it’s all said and done.
An example of Miami’s explosiveness and ability to put up points in bunches came last Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers.
They fell behind 14-0 early in the game and looked to be in trouble, but Tagovailoa threw three touchdown passes in just the second quarter to put them ahead, and they tacked on three more touchdowns in the second half to win, 42-21.
In Week 3, they had an all-time explosion with 70 points against the Denver Broncos, as Tagovailoa went 23 of 26 and threw four touchdown tosses.
A quarterback needs plenty of special abilities to perform all of those feats, regardless of which system he is playing in.
