The Dallas Cowboys headed into the 2023 NFL Season with a lot of expectations and pressure placed upon them.
After falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs, analysts and pundits tried to identify the cause of the Cowboys’ issues.
Dak Prescott faced the music throughout the offseason and has been steadily criticized throughout the season as well.
Many of Prescott’s teammates and coaches have spoken out about this situation, including head coach, Mike McCarthy.
McCarthy recently appeared on “Mad Dog Radio” detailing his response to Prescott’s criticism.
One of the first statements McCarthy made was, “I think the way he’s built all the way through, obviously his physical skillset is excellent.”

While McCarthy was quick to call out Prescott’s physical attributes and on-field abilities, he also discussed his situation regarding media attention.
“What he endures mentally and emotionally compared to the other 31 (NFL starting QBs) is unique,” McCarthy said.
Being the starting quarterback for the Cowboys has its perks, but it also has some downfalls.
They are known as “America’s Team,” giving them significant media attention and air time.
Prescott has a lot of eyes on him at all times, and when he makes mistakes, his mistakes are magnified.
However, when he plays well, pundits are not so quick to give him credit where credit is due.
This seemed to be McCarthy’s sentiment throughout this statement.
As McCarthy said, Prescott’s attitude “is very much the same every day.”
Prescott seems mostly unbothered by this negative attention, which will seemingly persist until the Cowboys win a Super Bowl.
