Last season, the Cleveland Browns surprised everyone after star quarterback Deshaun Watson and star running back Nick Chubb went down with season-ending injuries early in the 2023 campaign, as many believed the team stood no chance of making a run at the NFL playoffs.
Even with those two devastating injuries, the Browns were able to endure with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco under center, who led the team to the postseason.
Although the Browns flamed out quickly in an embarrassing loss to the upstart Houston Texans, Cleveland put on an impressive display of resilience, but that hasn’t carried over to the 2024 NFL season.
The Browns were able to get Watson healthy and back under center, but that hasn’t resulted in the team taking two steps forward, as they have taken two steps back, with only one win on the season thus far.
Cleveland is coming off a blowout loss to the Washington Commanders and a lot of questions surrounding whether it is time to bench Watson, with ESPN’s Mike Greenberg calling the trade to acquire and sign him the biggest disaster in the history of the sport via ESPN Radio.
“The headline from that game was not the quarterback of Washington; it was the quarterback of Cleveland, and what now I think has to be reasonably be described as the worst transaction in football history. … The biggest disaster in the history of the sport,” Greenberg said.

There’s no question that the Browns have a quarterback problem that needs to get figured out sooner rather than later to salvage the season and perhaps the foreseeable future in Cleveland.
Only time will tell how things pan out for the Browns, but things certainly aren’t looking good for the once-promising team under head coach Kevin Stefanski.
