The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were expected by many to miss the playoffs this season, despite possessing a talented quarterback in Baker Mayfield and two solid wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Although they lost soundly to the Philadelphia Eagles, 25-11, on Monday, they currently hold a 2-1 record, and there is now legitimate hope they will participate in the postseason.
With 297 receiving yards through three games, Evans ranks seventh in the NFL in that category, and Eagles cornerback Darius Slay had some complimentary things to say about him, via The Volume.

Evans had a decent game against Slay, catching five passes for 60 yards and one touchdown.
Slay mentioned an amazing feat Evans has managed to pull off — in each of his previous nine seasons in the league, he has gone over 1,000 receiving yards, making him the first player to ever do so in each of his first nine years.

Slay also said the Buccaneers need to pay Evans, who is in the final year of his current contract.
The wideout has also helped Mayfield do well so far this season, as Mayfield has completed 66.7 percent of his pass attempts and thrown four touchdown passes and just one interception, giving him a solid 96.0 passer rating.
His talent has always been evident, but he has had trouble putting it all together in five previous seasons with three different teams.
Now Mayfield is on a team with two very capable wideouts that doesn’t have high expectations, which means there is less pressure and scrutiny surrounding him, yet he has ample support.NEXT: Todd Bowles Gets Brutally Honest On Buccaneers' Running Game
