Former NBA Coach of the Year Mike D’Antoni has taken some time away from the league but it looks like he is coming back.
D’Antoni will now be a “Coaching Advisor” for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2023-24, according to Christian Clark.
Because of his history and expertise, D’Antoni has many ways he can assist head coach Willie Green.

D’Antoni has led multiple NBA teams.
He started as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets and later took on the HC position for a single season in 1998-99.
Following his time in Denver, he then was the coach of the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets.
When we last saw D’Antoni, he was an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets.
There were reports that multiple teams in the league were considering him as head coach again but D’Antoni instead chose to spend time with his family and focus on his personal life.
But now he is ready to get back into the swing of things with the league.
He has chosen a great team to work with.
Few teams in the Western Conference have as much potential as the Pelicans.
Green has been working hard to get the squad in playoff contention but they have been consistently held back by the health issues of Zion Williamson.
Last season, the Pels briefly sat atop the Western Conference – and then slid down the standings when Williamson left with yet another injury.
D’Antoni is going to work closely with Green to get New Orleans in the best shape possible.
Can they finally break through the pack and have an entire season of success?
