The Brooklyn Nets gladly took Mikal Bridges in the Kevin Durant trade.
And while he’s obviously no Durant, he’s still one of the rising stars of the league, a mature young man to build their project around, and a guy who seems to know where he’s standing.
Bridges isn’t like the average young NBA player.
That was once again in full display during his recent appearance on Paul George’s “Podcast P” show, as he claimed he wants to be a second-grade teacher when he’s done playing in the NBA.
"I think when I'm done playing, that's like a thing I wanna do like 2nd grade teaching."

Needless to say, George didn’t buy that for a second, stating that he’s going to be sitting on $400 or $500 million and won’t be interested in all that.
The Los Angeles Clippers star doubled down on that take by letting him know that he won’t want to deal with 20 kids after he’s got a child of his own.
Bridges talked about all the little handshakes he sees from teachers online and stated that some of his friends don’t believe that’s his dream either.
Truth be told, it’s hard to envision a former NBA player teaching second grade, not only because of the pay but also simply because of their lifestyle.
But if that’s what Bridges wants to do once his playing days are behind him, then so be it
He might even get another gig as the basketball coach or P.E. teacher as well.
For now, he’ll have to focus on leading the Nets back to the playoffs first, which won’t be easy either.
