The Brooklyn Nets couldn’t make the most of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.
Now, it’ll be up to Mikal Bridges to prove that he can be the next star in this league, and the early returns of his tenure in Brooklyn were quite encouraging.
Bridges was always held back by Devin Booker in the sense that the Phoenix Suns never needed him to be the go-to guy.
He was pretty much left out in the corner or used as a slasher, never as a creator or a finisher.
With that in mind, he talked to SiriusXM NBA Radio about how he knows this new position as the “go-to” scorer will be a challenge for him, but it’s also the best position he could hope for.
“I’d rather be in this position than in any other”

Bridges has already made a name for himself for being an elite defender and quite a durable player.
But he also took a major leap as a scorer last season, being more aggressive, putting his head down, driving to the lane, and getting to his spots.
The Nets also hope that Ben Simmons can be healthy and give them another primary ball-handler and creator.
Together, they could be a nightmare for opposing teams on switches, using their length and defensive prowess to disrupt passing lanes and go over and under screens almost at will.
Still, Jacque Vaughn’s team will need plenty of players to step up if they want to make the playoffs with this new-look and young roster next season.
