Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals is going to become an extremely wealthy man in the years to come.
The star quarterback just secured a five-year contract extension that will pay him $275 million, and it is the richest contract in NFL history — at least for now.
Most people agree that the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes is the best QB and overall player in the game today, but Burrow is likely right behind him.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin made a wild claim about the two, saying that in what he called a “conventional offense,” Burrow would be better off than Mahomes.
“If you put Patrick Mahomes in a conventional offense, I’m taking Joe Burrow over Mahomes.”

While Mahomes has had higher peaks and is more spectacular, Burrow has been cool, calm and consistent, to the point where some have compared him to San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana, who was renowned for his cool demeanor under pressure.
Where Mahomes tends to shine is when he ad-libs on broken plays and makes something out of nothing, especially in third-down situations, where he has historically killed teams.
Burrow, on the other hand, consistently operates like a calm surgeon whom everyone trusts.
He threw for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdown passes last season while completing 68.3 percent of his pass attempts, and he guided Cincinnati to a 12-4 record and a second straight appearance in the AFC Championship Game.
There, they narrowly lost to Mahomes and the Chiefs.
This season, however, the Chiefs look weakened, and behind Burrow and arguably the best trio of wide receivers around, the Bengals may finally break through and win their first Super Bowl championship.
