Friday night was a rough night for the New York Mets.
They entered their three-game weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates having lost six consecutive games.
In the series opener, things didn’t get any better for New York, as they surrendered 14 runs to the Pirates and dropped the series opener.
Tylor Megill got the start for the Mets, hoping to snap the skid.
Unfortunately, he had no such luck, surrendering nine runs, seven of which were earned over just 3.2 innings.
On Twitter, SNY posted a graphic featuring Megill’s final line from his start in Friday’s series opener at PNC Park.

It certainly was a night to forget in Pittsburgh for Megill.
In addition to allowing nine runs over just 3.2 innings of work, the young right-hander surrendered eight hits and walked three batters, striking out just one.
As a result, the Mets lost by a final score of 14-7, marking their seventh consecutive loss.
It also dropped them to 30-34 on the season.
So far, the 2023 season has not gone according to plan for the Mets, who won 101 games last year and earned a Wild Card spot, barely missing out on their first NL East title since 2015.
New York also finds themselves well behind the Atlanta Braves in the division.
With their seventh straight loss, they dropped to 9.5 games back of first.
They are also four games out in the Wild Card race.
Megill had a chance to stop the losing skid for the Mets, but was unable to do so as he dropped to 6-5 on the year.
