New York Mets fans who were watching their team on this day in 1986 were probably the happiest they have ever been.
“On this day in 1986: “Behind the Bag, it gets through Buckner. Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!” Barstool Sport tweeted.

Yes: today, but 36 years ago, the famous Mookie Wilson slow roller that went between Bill Buckner’s legs took place.
It was Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, and the Boston Red Sox were leading 3-2.
The Mets were facing elimination but knew they would play at home the final two games of the season.
The Red Sox had scored two runs in the top of the tenth frame, forcing the Mets to score two to tie and three to win.
In the bottom of the tenth, the Red Sox got two quick outs and were actually a strike away from winning their first World Series in decades.
Not so fast.
The Red Sox Were One Strike Away
Gary Carter singled after the words “congratulations Boston Red Sox” briefly appeared on the scoreboard.
Kevin Mitchell followed with a single of his own, and Ray Knight did the same, scoring Carter and cutting the deficit to one.
A wild pitch scored Mitchell to tie the game at five.
Then, the moment everybody knows: Wilson hit a slow roller to first base and Buckner missed it, sending Knight home as the Mets won Game 6 in shocking fashion.
After being one strike away from losing, the Mets recovered and managed to win Game 7, earning the second World Series championship in their history.
Today is a day of celebration for true hardcore Mets fans, as they remember one of the happiest days in their history.
