Max Scherzer was one of the biggest names moved this year at the trade deadline.
The New York Mets, who initially intended to compete for a spot in the postseason, changed course, which ultimately resulted in Scherzer waiving his no-trade clause to go to the Texas Rangers.
Scherzer later revealed a conversation he had with Mets owner Steve Cohen and GM Billy Eppler, who revealed to him that they were looking to rebuild and be back in contention by 2025 or 2026.
On Friday, the veteran right-hander and three-time Cy Young appeared on the MLB podcast “Foul Territory,” where he discussed what he thought about Cohen and how he conducts business as the team’s owner.

Scherzer had nothing but good things to say about Cohen.
He praised Cohen for being aggressive in free agency and doing everything in his power to try and build a winning culture for the Mets.
Scherzer says that is the most disappointing part of all of this, knowing that Cohen did his best to make the Mets a contender.
The veteran right-hander said that Cohen’s vision was shared by everybody around the Mets organization, including the players, who believed that the Mets would be a team that could consistently make deep runs in the postseason.
Things were looking good for the Mets after they won 101 games last season, but this season has been a disappointment for the team.
Scherzer reiterated his praise for Cohen and how his attitude sets him apart from other owners in Major League Baseball, who may not have the same goal of winning that he does.
