The Dallas Mavericks could have a mind-blowing season that makes some fans forget the pain of losing Luka Doncic last year.
But that will only happen if they make the right roster choices and play to the best of their abilities.
Apparently, head coach Jason Kidd is thinking of a few options for his team in the coming months, including a surprising one.
Marc Stein recently reported that Kidd may elect to use incoming rookie Cooper Flagg as a starting shooting guard at times, with PJ Washington as the starting small forward.
“I do think that at some point that the starting lineup will be tested at some point with Cooper [Flagg] at the 2 and PJ [Washington] at the 3. I feel pretty strongly about that,” via Marc Stein.

This choice would definitely turn a few heads because most people didn’t see it coming.
Some fans feel that Flagg is too large to be in the two position, and they aren’t sure that Washington has earned his spot in the starting rotation.
Meanwhile, a lot of people believe that Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II will work better with a true and tested shooting guard helping run the ball.
There are some people scratching their heads because the team already has a proven shooting guard: Klay Thompson.
Why wouldn’t Kidd choose to use him at all times?
The truth is that he probably will, and Thompson will get plenty of time on the court in the new season, including in the starting five.
But Kidd wants to get the most out of Flagg and see what he can do, so he is going to leave his options open.
He might try this starting lineup, but he may not stick with it.
