Not so long ago, the Los Angeles Rams were perhaps the biggest powerhouse in the NFC.
Now, oddsmakers believe they might not even win six games.
Life comes at you fast in the National Football League, and what once seemed like an excellent contract might not be in a couple of years.
That’s why the Rams reportedly reached out to Matthew Stafford in an attempt to restructure his contract and were quite frustrated when he didn’t want to cooperate.
Notably, Colin Cowherd took to Twitter to confirm that report, with Stafford stating that the Rams did reach out to him and his camp about reworking his deal.
🤷🏼♂️ On Wednesday, when asked if the Rams reached out to him or his agent about renegotiating or restructuring his contract, Stafford said, “They did, and I’ll keep all that kind of stuff and those conversations in house”

Even so, the quarterback didn’t want to get into any specifics or details about the situation.
Stafford was barely able to play last season.
The defending Super Bowl champions struggled to stay afloat for the better part of the season, and there were countless rumors and reports about Stafford’s health.
Some stated that the former No. 1 pick was even considering retirement after struggling with pain in his elbow, which obviously didn’t happen.
Stafford is expected to be back under center in 2023, but the Rams are likely heading toward a rebuild.
So, even if it may not be easy, their frustration with Stafford and current situation could lead to some trade speculation throughout the course of the season, depending on how he performs and how the rest of the league is shaped.
For now, things don’t look that promising for Sean McVay’s squad.
