The Green Bay Packers are taking things slowly with their star rookie.
They’ve gradually gotten Matthew Golden more involved in the offense, and while there have been flashes of great play, there have also been some growing pains.
That was evident in Week 3, when he posted the best numbers of his young career, but also made a crucial mistake.
He failed to make the most of his mesmerizing speed in what could’ve been a game-winning touchdown, running out of bounds instead.
Nevertheless, the first-round pick knows his big game is just about to happen.
When asked about that, Golden opened up on his expectations:
“I know it’s bound to happen. I’m not pressing but I know whenever it does happen, it’s going to boost your confidence … I know whenever I get the opportunity, I’m going to take off with it,” Golden said.

Golden showed his speed and route-running skills in Texas.
He’s projected and expected to be the team’s WR1 at some point, even when they’re at full strength.
That’s also why the slow start to the season has been somewhat disappointing at this point.
Now, with the Packers missing Christian Watson and Jayden Reed, Matt LaFleur would be wise to trust him with a bigger workload, and they just need to allow him to grow through his mistakes.
Fortunately for him, he’s about to face one of the worst – if not the worst – secondary defenses in all of football.
Even with DaRon Bland returning from injury, teams have found a lot of success throwing deep against the Dallas Cowboys.
Trevon Diggs has failed to get anything going in coverage, and the Packers would be wise to pair their speedy first-round pick with the ever-struggling cornerback.
