When the 2025 NFL schedule came out, Green Bay Packers fans were frustrated to see the team had a Week 5 bye.
Having an early bye means that teams don’t get a great opportunity to rest later on in the season when they’re hurting and needing time to recover.
However, considering all of the Packers’ injuries, especially on the offensive line, this could be just what the doctor ordered.
Matt LaFleur noted this in a recent press conference shared by reporter Ryan Wood on X, indicating their top priority over the next week.
“It’s called health. That is the big thing. We’ve got to get these guys their bodies back. And we have to understand there’s going to be a long haul after the bye,” LaFleur said.

The Packers have seen what their offense looks like without their top-tier line, and seem to understand that they won’t be able to make a deep postseason run without them in place.
Having Zach Tom and Aaron Banks out has been devastating, especially against a staunch defense like the Cleveland Browns.
Jordan Love can only do so much, and while he had a great performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, he couldn’t overcome their injuries and struggles on the defensive side of the ball.
Some rest and relaxation will hopefully do this team a lot of good, but only time will tell if it was fruitful.
The Packers have a relatively light schedule with the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Carolina Panthers after the bye, so this will be a great test to see if the bye paid off, especially with more difficult opponents on the horizon.
