Kai Jones of the Charlotte Hornets has been going through a rough few weeks and it seems like his future might only get rougher.
The 22-year-old big man went on Twitter the other day to say that he has “officially” requested a trade from his team.
To most, the decision seemed abrupt and ill-conceived.
Former NBA player Matt Barnes responded to Jones’ comments, saying, “Praying for you little bro!! Another reason why the NBA needs more vets! Help these young players navigate this crazy journey.”

It remains to be seen how serious Jones is about this trade request.
Because of the last few weeks, no one is sure if they should believe him or not.
They also aren’t sure how to handle him.
Jones posted a series of very bizarre social media posts recently.
Some of those posts called out his teammates and said he was better than multiple players on the Hornets, while others had Jones referring to himself as God and saying he could beat LeBron James in a one-on-one game.
It was clear that something was going on with Jones.
Eventually, the Hornets announced that Jones would be spending an indefinite time away from the team due to “personal reasons.”
But now it sounds like he wants to leave the team for good.
If he were to get his wish, it could mean the end of his NBA career.
Jones is not a first option for the Hornets and would garner little interest in the free agency market.
His recent behavior would only make him less attractive to other teams and he could be left in NBA purgatory until he shows that he has put all of this behind him.
Barnes is right and hopefully, Jones will be able to receive some sort of help soon.
