The Miami Marlins revealed some exciting news on Wednesday afternoon.
They are calling up their best prospect, pitcher Eury Perez, to start on Friday.
Perez is on the shortlist for the unofficial “best pitching prospect” title with Grayson Rodriguez, Andrew Painter, Ricky Tiedemann, and a few others.
His talent is just like him: big.
He is 6-foot-8, but unlike other pitchers with that kind of build, he can throw strikes with ease and has command of four excellent pitches.
One of them is a fastball that sits in the high-90s.
His best pitch might be his changeup, though.
The world is about to see a really talented 20-year-old try his luck against MLB hitters.
Double-A ones didn’t fare too well against him this year, as he had a 2.32 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 31 frames.
Everybody is excited to see him pitch, including his new manager in The Show.
“Marlins manager Skip Schumaker: ‘He’s earned it. It’s an exciting time for him. It’s an exciting time for the organization,'” MLB insider Bob Nightengale tweeted.

Perez is yet more proof that the Marlins are very good at developing pitchers.
They also have Sandy Alcantara, Trevor Rogers, Jesus Luzardo, Edward Cabrera, and Braxton Garrett in the majors.
All of them are talented, regardless of what kind of results they are getting this year.
It’s unclear if the Marlins will keep Perez around after his Friday start or if it will be a one-and-done start for him, but we are all eager to watch him on the mound anyway.
