Marcus Smart was a huge part of his team’s culture when he was with the Boston Celtics.
Will he hold the same position now that he’s playing for the Memphis Grizzlies?
The team posted an image of Smart smiling during a FaceTime call with big man Jaren Jackson Jr.
It looks like he is adjusting well to his time in Memphis and is becoming close with his new teammates.

In this image, we have two Defensive Players of the Year chatting with each other and getting close.
Smart won the trophy in 2022 while Jackson earned it a year later.
That is obviously good news for fans of the Grizzlies.
There are many people who are very excited to see what Smart can do for Memphis.
During his years with the Celtics, Smart was one of the team’s toughest players, especially when it came to defense.
A lineup featuring him and Jackson could be very troubling for opponents in the league.
Last season, Smart posted 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists a game.
As for Jackson, he averaged 18.6 points and 6.8 rebounds.
The Grizzlies have been a postseason presence for a few years now but they have yet to get really far in the playoffs.
Part of that is because of the competition in the West but it’s also because of the team’s inexperience.
Smart brings a lot of experience, defensive skills, and leadership too.
If this new-look Grizzlies team can play well together, they could finally reach the Western Conference Finals.
And they will likely play very well if Smart is smiling and having a good time with all the players on the team.
