Manny Machado finished second in the voting for the NL MVP Award last fall behind St. Louis Cardinals star Paul Goldschmidt.
But the San Diego Padres star’s work ethic is unquestionable.
Machado is a six-time All-Star, a Silver Slugger, a two-time Gold Glover, and a Platinum Glove Award winner.
He dominates on both sides of the game and is truly one of baseball’s best players.
But every player has somebody that they look up to.
For Machado, it’s former Texas Rangers star Adrian Beltre.
Machado was inspired by the slugger’s work ethic and does his best to model him.
The six-time All-Star got a chance to catch up with Yonder Alonso, and he expressed why Beltre is somebody that he looks up to.
"If you work, and you continue to work every single day … anything's possible."

Machado says that watching Beltre compete into his late 30s, continuing to produce and make diving plays at third base is what inspires him.
The Padres slugger even believes that Beltre could have played a few more years with the way he was producing and said that if you continue to work every single day, anything is possible.
He says that watching Beltre do it for a long time is what drives him and gives him a reason to believe that he will be around the game for a long time.
Machado knows that it’s his job to do just that and try to exceed expectations.
He praised his teammates and his friends for helping him along the way, pushing him to be the best version of himself, which is something he hopes to live up to.
