The New York Giants’ 2024-25 NFL season has turned into a battle for draft position rather than playoff contention.
After being dominated by the Baltimore Ravens on their home turf, the Giants’ quarterback situation remains as uncertain as ever following Daniel Jones’ exit.
Now, with a premium draft pick likely heading their way, all signs point to Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders emerging as the potential first quarterback, and perhaps the first overall pick, in next April’s NFL Draft.
When former LSU star Malik Nabers faced questions about whether the Giants should draft Sanders, he kept his response diplomatic.
“Deion is very confident in his son, but that’s something upstairs that they’ve got to do. That they gotta look over the film and see what quarterback that they want. I’m not sure if they want a quarterback,” Nabers told reporters.
Malik Nabers was asked about the possibility of the Giants drafting Shedeur Sanders after Deion Sanders' guarantee the Giants will draft him if they have #1:

The response might seem measured, but there’s more beneath the surface. Whispers had circulated about the Sanders family possibly orchestrating a reverse Eli Manning scenario – potentially steering Shedeur away from New York given the team’s recent quarterback struggles.
However, those concerns appear to have subsided, with Deion Sanders seemingly open to his son landing in the Meadowlands if that’s where the cards fall.
This season has been nothing short of a quarterback carousel for the Giants.
Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, Drew Locke, and Tim Boyle have all taken snaps under center, with none managing to secure the starting role.
The prospect of any of these quarterbacks leading the offense in 2025 would spell trouble for the franchise’s future.
While this year’s NFL Draft might not match the quarterback depth of the previous class, Shedeur Sanders brings exactly what teams are hunting for in modern NFL quarterbacks.
