The New York Giants are in position to grab the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft thanks to a dismal 2-13 record and a 10-game losing streak that doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon as the team heads into a Week 17 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite how horrific this season has been, one bright spot has been the performance of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who is in line to set an NFL record as soon as this week.
“Malik Nabers has 97 catches, a Giants rookie record. He needs 8 to tie and 9 to break Puka Nacua’s NFL record, set last year. Only catch: Raiders TE Brock Bowers is at 101. So Nabers could beat Nacua’s record, but still not have the record for himself,” Art Stapleton of USA Today wrote on X.

Nabers has been nursing a few injuries of late but was practicing ahead of the game, while quarterback Drew Lock is banged up as well, though he should also be good to go while working through a shoulder injury.
Nabers is also 31 yards shy of 1,000 for the season and is cementing himself as one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the game at just 21 years old.
If the Giants do lose their final two games, they would put themselves in prime position to land a franchise quarterback who could come in and form an explosive 1-2 punch with Nabers for many years to come.
