The Orlando Magic got off to a strong start to the season.
They were going toe-to-toe with the best teams in the league, up to the point where they had the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and beat some championship contenders.
They haven’t been able to keep that pace up.
Either because of injuries or a lack of experience, Jamahl Mosley’s team has kind of hit a wall, alternating losses with wins.
With that in mind, it seems like they’re looking to add an experienced veteran to help them lead the way to the playoffs.
According to Matt Moore of the Action Network, they’ve expressed an interest in both Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry (via NBA Central).

Notably, Lowry was recently traded to the Charlotte Hornets, but he’s not expected to suit up for them.
They’re looking to trade him; otherwise, he’d become a prime buyout candidate.
As for Paul, he’s been a trade candidate for most of the season, and he’s been out for quite a while now with an injured hand.
The Magic already have a bit of a logjam in the backcourt with Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, and Gary Harris, not to mention that Paolo Banchero has also been tasked with playmaking duties from time to time.
Even so, a veteran point guard could be the only thing holding this promising team back from legitimate contention, and it’ll be interesting to see how aggressive they are and how much they’re willing to give up to get the help they need.
