Before Luka Doncic became an NBA superstar with the Dallas Mavericks, he became a household name overseas while putting on a show on a nightly basis for Real Madrid.
Ahead of the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the Mavericks headed overseas to play some preseason games and go through training camp.
While playing in Madrid, it was no surprise that the crowd that fell in love with Doncic while he played with the team from 2015 to 2018 showed their support for the Mavericks superstar, which he acknowledged via the team’s Twitter account.

Doncic signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid when he was only 13 years old but didn’t make his professional debut with the club until he was 16,
He became the youngest player to ever play for Real Madrid and went on to be a legend with the club before becoming eligible to be drafted by an NBA team in 2018, where the Mavericks acquired him in a trade involving Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks.
Since being acquired by the Mavericks, Dallas hasn’t looked back, as Doncic has arguably exceeded expectations of a European superstar making the transition to the NBA game.
Doncic is now widely considered to be one of the best players in the league and is always in the NBA MVP conversation from year to year.
With Doncic now playing alongside fellow superstar Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks will be under pressure to succeed moving forward as one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference, which will be no easy task considering the competition.
