Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks wasn’t able to participate in this year’s NBA playoffs.
Despite a great previous season and a promising start to 2022-23, Doncic and his Mavericks ended up falling apart in the final few months and didn’t make the postseason.
That’s a shame for many reasons, but mostly because Doncic has become an important part of the playoffs lately.
According to Hoop Muse, he is averaging a combined 49.7 points, rebounds, and assists during the last five playoffs.
That beats Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (46.9), Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets (46.7), Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns (43.7), LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers (43.6), and Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers (43.3).

As you can see, Doncic was the only player on that list who didn’t make the playoffs this year.
Therefore, a player who is performing unlike any other in the postseason wasn’t able to show off his talent.
Doncic is surely unhappy with that.
While he has recently publicly said that he is content with the Mavericks and the way the team is, there is no doubt that he wants more from them.
Doncic knows the ability that he has and he also knows what he can do in the playoffs.
He doesn’t want to sit around and watch more playoffs pass him by.
The Mavericks might have a very busy offseason in order to give Doncic the chance he deserves.
They are possibly going to make coaching and roster alterations so the bench is deeper and the supporting cast is stronger.
Much like Doncic, the Mavericks don’t want to be sitting on the sidelines during the postseason.
They too know Doncic’s skill and want to show it off to the rest of the league.
