The NBA Finals are upon us, and as such, people are already dissecting every minor or major storyline within the series.
Of course, people have talked about Kyrie Irving and his never-ending feud with the Boston Celtics and their fans.
However, he’s not the only player who could get payback against his former team.
Kristaps Porzingis’ time with the Dallas Mavericks didn’t end well, as there were always reports of him not getting along with Luka Doncic.
Porzingis has since admitted that there was tension between them, as he struggled to embrace a secondary role behind him.
Luka, however, has dismissed their alleged beef.
Now, when asked about why things didn’t work out when they were together, Doncic didn’t want to talk too much about it.
The Slovenian star simply claimed that they were both pretty young and tried to make things work but they didn’t (via Tomer Azarly & ClutchPoints).
“I don't really know. I don't know why it didn't work out. We were still both young. We tried to make it work, but it just didn't work, so we moved on.”

It happens.
The Mavs wanted to have two young stars on the same timeline, but their personalities didn’t seem to mesh.
Also, Porzingis came from being a franchise player himself and being a competitor; his ego may have stood in the way.
At the end of the day, it’s always nice to think and wonder what could’ve been, but this may have been for the best for both parties.
Their paths have crossed again as usually happens in this league, but it’s not like any player should need any additional motivation to be at his best in the NBA Finals.
