On Tuesday night, the San Francisco Giants were able to strike early against the Washington Nationals and hold on for a 4-1 win to improve to 16-19 on the season.
The Giants remained in fourth place in the National League West division, five games back of the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers.
Staff ace Logan Webb put together a strong performance on the mound against the struggling Nationals.
Backed by infielder Casey Schmitt’s first career home run, Webb dominated the Nationals for seven innings, scattering nine hits and allowing just one run and a walk while striking out seven batters and earning his third win of the season.
On Twitter, the Giants posted a graphic to hype up Webb’s dominant performance.
Gotta give Logan some love 🧡

Webb’s only run allowed came in the top of the sixth, when Dominic Smith singled to drive in Joey Meneses.
Aside from that moment, Webb kept the Nationals at bay and delivered a truly remarkable performance.
With his seven strong innings, the young right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.46 on the season.
Webb had a strong season in 2022, winning 15 games and posting an ERA of 2.90 in 32 starts.
And the right-hander came out firing on all cylinders on Tuesday against the slumping Nationals, delivering a much-needed win and playing the role of stopper in a key situation.
With nine hits, Webb certainly had to deal with some traffic on the bases, but was able to work around any trouble to help the Giants get back in the win column.
Webb has established himself as the ace of the Giants staff and performed like one against the Nationals.
