After an excellent start to the 2024 NFL campaign, it appears the Detroit Lions are finally starting to wear down as the regular season ends.
The Lions remain one of the best teams in the league and can secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC heading into the playoffs, but injuries have put a serious damper on their Super Bowl chances.
Detroit’s defense is as beat up as any unit in the league as it is missing several playmakers, including Aidan Hutchinson.
Without him, the pass rush has taken a step back, but the secondary is also hurting as it’s missing several of its starters as well.
The Lions should still be able to win their Week 17 matchup against a worn-down San Francisco 49ers squad, but it won’t be as easy as originally expected.
Ahead of the game, Detrioit announced a couple of roster moves.
“Signed DB Morice Norris to the Active Roster from the Practice Squad. Signed LB Kwon Alexander to the Practice Squad,” the Lions wrote on X.Â

Norris may back up Terrion Arnold and Amik Robertson while the Lions will be without Carlton Davis, who is on injured reserve after fracturing his jaw.
Meanwhile, Alexander appeared in two games earlier this month and will serve as depth at linebacker.
Detroit might be banged up but remains a serious threat to come out of the NFC and reach the Super Bowl for the first time in its history.
