NFL fans and analysts get overly excited when a player is labeled a “generational talent.”
This title was given to Trevor Lawrence when he entered the league for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Lawrence was said to be the best quarterback prospect since either Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning, depending on who you asked.
While he was highly touted and played well in his first three seasons, LeSean McCoy believes he hasn’t met the hype.
This caused McCoy to tweet that fans need to stop “crowning these QB without earning it.”
Man can the media stop CROWNING these qb without earning it … LET Trevor Lawrence EARN IT FIRST

While McCoy isn’t saying that Lawrence is a bad quarterback, he is trying to issue caution when looking at prospects.
He believes that players need time to grow and develop and that they haven’t done anything until they have provided tangible on-field production.
Lawrence brought the Jaguars to the playoffs last season as their starter, winning their Wild Card matchup over the Los Angeles Chargers.
While he appeared on pace to lead them to a divisional win again this year, the race for first place in the AFC South is closer than many imagined.
With the Jaguars’ primetime loss to the Baltimore Ravens in mind, McCoy wants to keep Lawrence’s actual production at the forefront of people’s minds.
They still have a long way to go this year, and the divisional race is far from over.
If the Jaguars make the playoffs, in McCoy’s mind, he has much to prove when he gets there.
Fans will be interested to see the type of impact Lawrence will make on this team throughout his career and if he can deliver a strong performance in 2023.
