As bad as his reputation had gotten, no one in the NFL could’ve debated that Aaron Rodgers was still one of the best quarterbacks in the league two years ago.
The New York Jets went all-in to get him because they seemed to be just one quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.
Zach Wilson had struggled mightily, and there were big doubts about whether he could turn out to be that guy.
Fast forward to today, and LeSean McCoy believes they could’ve been better off with him.
Talking on FOX’s “The Facility,” the Philadelphia Eagles legend stated that the Jets should regret trading for Rodgers, adding that they could’ve just rolled with Wilson instead.

In hindsight, trading for Rodgers didn’t do much to help the team’s case.
Then again, it seemed like a logical decision at the time.
Perhaps their approach with him and giving him the reins of the franchise wasn’t the wisest decision, but going after him was the right move from a football perspective.
Wilson didn’t play well when he had to sub in for Rodgers, and he failed to make a strong impression with the Denver Broncos in training camp, so it’s not like they gave up on a can’t-miss prospect because of Rodgers.
Whatever the case, the Jets are facing a lot of tough questions right now, and there might not be a light at the end of the tunnel.
All in all, this will go down as one of the most disappointing teams in pro sports history.
